There is no doubt that one of the most lucrative poker tours that we have today is the World Poker Tour. The World Poker Tour brings us tournaments from all over the world and allows us to meet new poker players who come from all ends of the Earth to partake in this poker tour. The 2009-2010 World Poker Tour got under way back in May as Venice was the first stop for this season. The WPT stayed in Venice beginning on May 6th and ending with the final table being played on May 10th. Ragnar Astrom was the individual to walk away with the first place prize and a very nice first place prize of $567,750. Not a bad tournament to add to ones resume if you ask me. After the Venice event the WPT moved on to Barcelona as the next tournament was being held at the Casino Barcelona.

The WPT Spanish Championship was played through the dates of June 24th and June 30th. The tournament started with 172 players with a prize pool of over $1.2 million in cold hard cash. After 171 players were eliminated there was only one player standing with the first place prize as Randal Flowers was the winner of the WPT Spanish Championship. Randal Flowers walked away with the title as well as a cash winning of just under a half million dollars ($414,641). It looks like this will be tournament to remember in his poker career.

With Randal and Ragnar claiming the first place prizes in the first two events, the WPT made its move to the heartland of poker players, Las Vegas, Nevada. The Bellagio Cup V was held July 13th thru the 19th. Thus far the WPT Bellagio Cup V has brought us the most registered entrants (268) which obviously led us to the biggest prize pool of $3,899,400. With first place sitting at $1,187,670 players would be battling like never before on this particular tour as the winner can officially claim himself a millionaire. Alexandre Gomes was the man to go to win the tournament as he adds to the list of poker-made millionaires.

The World Poker Tour has made 4 more stops after they made their stop in Vegas. The WPT events include Legends of Poker (Aug22-26, Bell Gardens, California-Winner: Prahlad Friedman), WPT Slovakia (Aug 31-Sep 4, Golden Vegas, Bratislava-Winner: Richard Toth), WPT Merit Cyprus Classic (Sep 6-12, Alsancak Mevkii Kyrenia-Winner: Thomas Bichon), and finally Borgata Poker Open (Sep 19-24, Atlantic City, New Jersey-Winner: Olivier Busquet). Congratulations to all 4 poker players on their win with the World Poker Tour.

The World Poker Tour has 10 more events to host during this 2009-2010 WPT season. The World Poker Tour will wrap things up next year when once again when the WPT will visit Las Vegas, Nevada as the Bellagio is the host once again. The WPT World Championship will be held April 17th thru the April 24th of 2010 and it should be the biggest tournament of them all.
